I am trying to fit lights and ir recievers into a Taigen late version metal turret cupola.
I can’t get it off to work on it, any ideas. The early version is a lot simpler.

Just looked at my Taigen Panther and removal isn't obvious, all I can think of is applying heat, starting gently and working up.

I'm assuming it's just bonded in place, probably with hot melt glue or epoxy as opposed to anything fancy so heat may break the joint. I'd experiment a bit before stepping up to anything like a small gas torch, especially if there's any plastic inside the cupola.

Not very informed advice but may be an option before getting out the Dremel!

Dava,
Thanks for that but i did try a heat gun with no obvious result.

I can see I can dremil out from underneath but didn't want to do it unless its last resort.

Just a thought. Could it be super-glued in place? Have you tried a debonder?

If you're just installing LEDs and ir receivers could you not build a module that could pop into place, possibly mounting them so that when at the right level, i.e the vision openings, you can push them outwards to fill the holes?

I'm thinking of something like holding your hand palm up, fingers together, pop in place and then open fingers outwards, make any sense? Like an upturned shuttlecock with the skirt cut into sections, each with an LED.

Far easier for me to say than do but you might expand this into a viable option.

Regards,Dava.

If you want IR receptors and hit lights, have a look at rctanksaustralia.com who sell a unit specifically for a tiger.
