V2 MFU from Imex/Taigen Uses Hobby Grade TX

Just got the new V2 MFU from Imex/Taigen and hooked it up to a Turnigy i6. For an airsoft tank I think it's a viable option, especially given the low cost of $55 USD for the MFU and the Sound card, including all required cables and a new volume control (pot). The receiver cables are kind of flimsy, so take care. I can see this as a go-to first upgrade for any new tank that still has an RX18 with 27MHz electronics. There are a lot more of those still available on ebay than I thought.

Here's a video of the install part way through.

After this I tested and installed an ATRC2016 to eliminate track recoil and secured everything in place and tied up cables and what-not to make a tidy installation. I tried a remote volume control without success but that might still work out after I talk to Erik. So here's the unit all installed and ready to rock.

The proportional smoke works very well. It gives decent smoke at idle and there's a noticable increase at full throttle. I also think the sounds are much improved, and these are the sounds for Panzer III and IV, and they also have Tiger one with more sound boards to come. Still no word on the price of just the sound card, but it won't be much if the whole shebang is $55 USD.

Nice review  only if they will start selling sound module as separate board, not with control board and with different sound sets.

That's coming. Let me talk to Erik and see if I can get an idea when they might be available. I'd like to see one for my Pershing.

I would like to have one for Pz. III to test it with Open Panzer TCB, if it will be satisfactory, I will order it also for Panther G :D if not, Pz. III would have to stay with it for now an Panther will get Benedini later.

I enjoyed your visual explanation of the merits and otherwise of the V2 Board,
The downside is that Eric who in my eyes is a true hero of our hobby does not sell outside of the USA,
I guess because of the extraordinarily punitive Postal Charges that the seller and the buyer would incur.
Shaun.

I believe we might be able to work something out for Dave (Forgebear) to distribute in the UK? Any ideas on that, Guys?

Eventually they'll be offering just the sound card for all their tanks and the cost should be reasonable. It's just a question of waiting for them to get them all made and bring them to market.

The way I see it, if you could combine the features of the new HL stuff with the smooth motor controllers from the Taigen MFU you'd really have something!

It is a pity we can not change the sounds... For me thats a big cut of the fun and customization...

I hope taigen releases another board where we can change them.... Otherwise it has no interest for me.
