Greetings all the guests and fellow members here at the forum!

Today I'm posting about the very first updates I've done to my Heng Long 1/16 Tiger I. The list of updates includes some brand new metal Drive and idler wheels that I've purchased online. By the way, speaking of parts, many MANY thanks to Dave over at Forgebeartanks for providing the drive and idler wheels, the shipping was SO fast! So anyways, below is a few photos and a brief description about each of the updates I've done to my tank, enjoy!

Here's a nice side view of my Tiger I, with all the new updates in place.

I made a real quick makeshift muzzle cover out of tissue (mimicking tarp) due to the fact I'm in the market for a new turret, so it can't come on and off unfortunately

Image
here's my updated commander figure, nothing much except I had to glue back on one broken arm due to bending it too far back, and I've given him his own little Nazi binoculars (I understand they may not be 100% historically accurate) In the future I plan to paint him or get a better commander figure

Image
On the rear storage compartment, I've made some wrapped scale barbed wire (bear with me on how awful it looks) and I've attached some spare tracks to the other side

Here is another close up of my new metal drive and idler wheels, which had to be adjusted to fit my HL Chassis

Just to make it known I forgot to take further pictures but I've repositioned the inaccurate cupolas' position, and scraped off one number decal to make my tank its' own number. My official number I've chosen is 171 for my future finished Tiger.

Thank you for reading this post and enjoy the rest of your day!

Just a quick heads up, but does anyone know if it would be alright to run this tank with plastic gearboxes if it has metal drive and idler wheels on?

Hi there, sorry, I can't help you with your question. But regarding your topic title. I guess you are doomed already: There is nothing like MINOR modifications. ;)

hi if your plastic gears are ok no need to change them yet until you get that loud clicking sound of slipping then go for the heng long black steel to keep the cost down

All I can say I welcome to the journey that is owning Tiger Tank! Considering I had no intention of getting a Tiger I now own 4.5 tanks. Another coming on Monday & possibly another Two before Christmas. Modding them is a little addictive & shows no signs of slowing down.

Well it is real joy to own it, at least until a broken axel today.... :'( However a cheap purchase of $40 should fix THAT problem. I plan to maybe get a HL M4 Sherman and/or possibly a Russian T30 by Christmas to work on, along with some more major modifications to my good ol Tiger and possibly a permanent paint job.......... hopefully. :haha:

That's a beautiful Tiger battalion you've got there. :D I've always like the gunmetal early version tigers the most, mainly the Tigers of the 502nd.
