Modellers

Many moons ago, not long after I started my relationship with my now wife she told me that some advice given in one of her magazines was a list of undesirable qualities in a prospective partner; "model maker" was near the top!
She reminded me of this after I told her I had just burned my fingers whilst holding some brass I was soldering. She asked why I didn't let go when it got too hot. My reply "the joint would have failed" didn't seem to register!
Anyone else suffer such prejudice?
Dava.

I try to insist a tanking session involves "operating precision scale replicas", not playing with my toys.
Doesn't work however...

Sounds like the article was written by a horrid nag. Glad your wife isn't like that!

Oh Dava You have my sympathies,
I blame an education system that encourages reading.
In the good old days you could have lightly tapped her on the head and said "Mans work dear, you wouldn't understand"
Those were the days,
My way round it, and I have long believed I am the fly on the end of the line is to buy her gifts to placate her.
Shaun.

Yes indeed... A new tank sometimes comes with a nice trip for my sweetheart to the hair salon for some pampering

I found this really funny. My kids will ask, "What did you do today Dad?" and I will respond "I spent my time Constructing Miniature Replicas" and then they'll say, "You mean: playing with toys again."
It's been a running joke for quite awhile now, but I thought it was just me who goes through this. -Mike

I'm a little more lucky it seems.....................during quiet moments my wife watches Box Set shows, Band Of Brothers being one of her favorites having trod the ground herself.
She mentioned to me that she can now recognise the various tanks that appear in the show.
The term 'tanking' is now a standard phrase for all things surplus that could be used for......
A term to describe what daddy is doing............
A term to describe to others where I am when not home but not out at work.......
So im a bit lucky

I suppose the women's magazines recommend a prospective partner as a gopher or a dogsbody with a thumbprint on top of their head.
I play with tanks, trains and ride my bike.
I am a child cunningly disguised as an adult.

I've always liked the saying, "Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional."
