HL Truck Mods

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

I took the drive-by at 0.13 combined with the pic from the ebay listing I found to put it together.

Nice find,
A pity that the vendor states he does not ship to the UK.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Thank you Alwyn,
Now all I have to do is wait for the release of the Metal centre drive axle,
The metal front and rear Axles came not long after the Heng Long/WPL B1 was released so perhaps not too long :lolno:

The rear suspension looks very interesting indeed.
Seems to have a cross with the C14 models with a support strut going across the axle which suspension arms connect to and gives the massive travel compared to the leaf style suspension. Good shout i think from them

I was talking to Wayne last night about the scale of these trucks and we figured that the tires on the HL truck, if they were full size, would be 42 in tall. That's a very big tire, but then I looked up info on the MRAP and that vehicle has two Tire options, with the performance tires being 44 in tall, so I guess the HL tires are just about perfect for a modern vehicle like the mrap. I'm curious to see who comes up with the first dual rear wheel setup for these trucks. It won't be me, but I'll be more than happy to copy off whoever does. @) @)

But I do think that the stock HL tires are much too wide to try to use for a dual rear wheel setup.

The answer to running twin rear tyres on the back axle could be solved if one of our resident 3D printer experts came up with a hub that fitted onto the Heng Long/Wpl axle and instead of having the set up to take the Aforementioned makers tyres instead had a double "V" to take the Wehrmacht http://www.tank-modellbau.de tyres and a single hub with a single "V" for the front axle.

Has anyone seen if there is a supplier selling proper metal alloy wheel options for the WPL model series?

There are quite a few hex adapters on Thingiverse that would allow you to fit various wheels, trouble is I don’t know how they would affect track width.
Cheers
