Hanomag SS-100

Thought it was about time I started a thread on this.
Bit of a long story so please bear with me.
I bought a 3D printer abut 6 months ago, an Anet A8. I started off printing very simple things, servo mounts, small boats etc.
I then found a 1/16 LCM3 on Thingiverse, it was massive by 3D printing standards but I thought sod it why not!
Soooo, several spoils of filament later..
Image
Then I started printing a Tiger 1 to go in it...
Image
Image
The German bug had bit hard by this point, so I printed a V1...
Image
What comes after a V1, well a V2 of course..

I did some research on what you tow a V2 with, a Hanomag SS-100
Image
I eventually
Found a model on Thingiverse.
Image
Image
The only trouble was that it printed out smaller than a matchbox toy car. You can see the small blue version in the pic below, along with a 1/16 scaled up version of the front...
Image
The trouble with 3D printers is that you are limited by the volume you can actually print. The max size my printer will print is 220mm x 220mm x 240mm high, so the upscale Hanomag had to be cut up slightly.
I started by cutting the model at cab floor level & then I cut the cab in half, so I ended up with 2 printable parts..
Image
Unfortunately I didn't take a pic of the rear when it was printing so here it is with front & back together.
Image
At this point my Heng Long WPL truck arrived, I ripped it straight out of the box to see what it looked like for the Hanomag..
Image
That looked too good to be true so I took the screwdriver to the HL truck..
Image

The wheelbase looks fine but the shell could do with channeling over the chassis.
I wouldn't know where to start to modify the model in CAD so my next tool of choice is the trusty Dremel!!!!
Image
Image
A pair of pliers and we are getting somewhere Image
Image

Well this is where I'm up to at the moment, hopefully things will begin to start looking better soon, I just need to give my cut to ribbons knuckles a few days off Image
Cheers

Well, I binned the print as my knuckles couldn’t stand the blood loss...
I’ve used the original model & cut it up dramatically so I could print it all hollow. I found a Lancia truck on Thingiverse that I’ve pinched the wings from & tweaked them to fit. I’ve also printed the air intakes for the side of the hood.
I’ve got it all in one piece now (roof & bonnet removeable) just need to channel the cab by about 8 to 10mm to achieve the correct ride height then I can get on with the bumpers, fuel tank etc.

Thanks!
Hopefully I'll get the air tanks & the brackets that hold the running boards fitted tomorrow, I'll post some more pics then.

Thanks RobImage
I’ve fitted the air tanks & the 6 brackets that hold the running boards in place.
Here it is next to my unstarted Morris Quad for size comparison.

Sorry for the Necroposting but I was searching the web for RC Hanomag SS100s and I was wondering if you ever got this project completed?
