A few questions regarding Gearboxes

Hello guests and members at the forum!
In this post I just have a few questions regarding Taigen gearboxes that I'm sure some of you seasoned RC tanking veterans will be happy to help me with! As you may already know, I have a HL Tiger I that is unmodified and could use some tougher, more heavy duty steel gearboxes replacing the cheap plastic standard ones. When first looking into the market for reliable parts for my Tiger, I found that Taigen Tanks seemed to be the best choice seeing as how they are US supported and have all the parts I need. I was originally planning to purchase the newest gearboxes on the market, the V2 Ball Bearing Steel versions, however there was another website called Forgebear tanks which had SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper steel gearboxes. The only real problem though is that they are UK based. I was wondering what real difference it makes between the new ball bearing gearboxes compared to the good old fashioned STEEL ones, as well as if it be better if I bought from the cheaper site compared to the more expensive one. The only problem would be that the cheaper site is in the UK, which could mean a more expensive shipment than Taigens'. Thank you for your time in reading this and I'm hoping someone has the answers!

Tiger allow me to be the first of many members of your Forum to assure you of Dave's (FORGEBEAR) bona fides,
He and Julie are without doubt one of the straightest dealers in our hobby,
He is also a member of this Forum and is a regular attender at Tank club meetings throughout the UK.
I have been a very happy purchaser of his wares for many years, He is straighter than the Washington Monument,
He has been selling to members of the Forum who are resident in the USA for a long while and without fail people say they get the product before items they have ordered locally,

One thing that as a resident of the USA you should know is Value Added Tax Which applies to all purchases within the European Union but does not apply to buyers in the USA, Some dealers in Europe need reminding that as a resident in the USA you are not liable to VAT.

Dave does NOT need reminding,
Because you don't pay VAT that means the excess postal charge take its place so you are still paying the same price as the rest of us and no more.
As to the gearboxes I don't know why they are cheaper than the other ones except to say they are a genuine Taigen Steel product with bearings on each shaft so I would not hesitate.
Shaun.

Hey tiger, there's not a massive difference between bearings and not. They're a nice to have but the gearboxes wont be significantly different in running. The ones with bushes don't make a slightly singing sound when running which the bearing ones don't. I also think the black ones with bearings have slightly better motors

Thank you so much! Ill have to consider purchasing most of my parts from ForgeBear Tanks, for now I'll go with the ball bearing gearboxes because of more research I found on them. Thanks!

Hello Forgebear! I was just deciding whether or not to purchase gearboxes from your website or not! I was wondering, do you carry the new ball bearing gearboxes?, I've only seen the regular steel ones. I must say though you have excellent prices and I will definitely purchase most of my parts from your site!
