Heng long based scratchbuilit 6x6 truck.

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

Morning all,

I mentioned over on Dave's heng long truck thread the other day about having the idea to make a trailer out of the original H/L cargo bed as I was making a new one for the truck anyway . I used parts from the doner truck again ( it's giving itself up admirably lol :D ) such as the front framework and rails along with the leafsprings. I looked online for pics of a truck with a trailer and found one which I've based mine on

Cheers, Lee.

Thank you for the kind words Carl  I'm really enjoying the build to be honest, give me some glue and plastic and I'm in my element making things :D . I'm glad I can contribute and share my ideas as I've learned so much from the site and fellow members over the last couple of years of being here

Where'd you get the wheels and tires?

Hi Jacks,

The rear tyre's and rims are from www.tank-modellbau.de and the front tyre's and rims are from Asiatam, I converted 2 trucks into one to make it 6x6

How'd you make the center diff? Do both rear axles drive the truck or is the one a dummy?

Hi Terry,

I started my build log over on Dave ( forgebear ) heng long truck thread as I bought the 2 trucks from him before continuing it here :D I explained a little bit about what I did over on there, all wheels have drive so yes it's a 6x6, if you can't find it on Dave's thread let me know and I'll post it on here also

Cheers, Lee.

I see you changed the front hoop to support the top and now it has a bow instead of being flat across the top. Will you do that with the rest of the hoops? I ask because I'm trying to come up with a jig so I can bend all the hoops exactly the same.
When FDR coined the phrase "The Arsenal of Democracy", he was talking about Detroit. Proud to live in the 2nd most violent city in America!!
