RC Tank Warfare community hobby forum

Hi, thanks for having me. I am from Singapore, not sure you guys know where it is? anyway... a brief intro about myself.

I am an avid RC enthusiastic. Started off with 1/8 Nitro Buggy and car, proceed to EP Buggy/Car, Trucks. Nitro Heli and Plane and Quadcopter, Arduino robotics on UAV and USV. Recently i went back to Plastic modelling, something i did as a kid and come across RC tank when i do a google search on model kits of WWII... and so here i am... I fell in love with it after discovering it because RC tank not only allowed me to fulfilled my RC craving, it also allow me to fulfilled my love for model kit painting/weathering and DIY craving.

However i am still very new to these whole scene and will need lots of help from the more experience member here. Please bear with me should my question sound kind of noob at times.

Do I know where Singapore is ?
I remember arriving at Singapore international Airport which in those days was Paya Leba,
As we walked down the air stairs it started to rain, It was the middle of December and I had just come from a wintry UK But wait what was this? The rain was WARM, I thought to myself any country that has warm rain in December is my kind of country.
We were part of the combined forces defending Malaysia against the Indonesian confrontation and of course Singapore was still part of that nation before the right man at the right time in the right place Mr Lee Quan Yeuw first got Singapore out of that oppressive organisation and then with great diplomacy shrugged off the British comfort blanket.
So first to JB to the Jungle Warfare centre then to Borneo, But there was always R&R which usually meant two weeks in Penang but if we could get a couple of days free then we would catch a lift in a Beverly back to RAF Seletar,
We would be put up in the army barracks in West Camp and in the evening take the camp bus to Jalan Kayu village for a cheap but tasty supper and lots of laughs with the children who were great fun then into a cab to the Britannia club which was across the road from the Raffles Hotel and adjacent to the War Memorial then on to "Bugis street" where we would take a beer or two and watch all human life as it passed by.
Poured into a cab and back to Seletar and then to the War but with the warm reminders of why we were fighting.
A country is only as good as its people and Singapore is one of the Jewels in the crown of the world.

Haha yes! Thanks for the nice words. Learned about that controntation from my history lesson in school. I too was based in Selatar Camp at Jalan Kayu in the 90s. I am from the 3rd Guards Unit. Sadly that area was now redeveloped. Lost its old charm i think! I remember seeing the 35th combat engineers doing the beach manuvers back then... how time flies!

Alot had change here. You should come by and see for yourself and i can bring you back to Seletar Camp for a couple of beer!

I too know the Singapore Island Fortress, but not as 'intimately' as Mr Jarndice
My wife has been pushing for a holiday there for a while, she knows the interesting bits of the place.........

I visited Singapore a few times in the Navy. I spent most of my time exploring the awesome hobby shops you have.

I work for Rolls-Royce & I ship lots of parts to our factory on the Selatar business park, I was told some of the area is reclaimed marsh land so they have snake problems, I make sure someone else opens the empty boxes when they are returned
