M41 target tank
Firing and maneuver ranges are full of tanks: target tanks, wrecks etc.
I used my memories from what I saw in various training and firing ranges as well as pictures.
For my firing range, I need various ''target tank''
The first one is an old Heng Long M41.
I would like to thank Mig Jimenez for his advises for the peeling paint over rust effects.

LOVE what you did with the missing track-parts but also so much of the tank 'gone' there!
1:16 was my scale. Until 'Konan' came into my life... an Armortek 1:6 Tiger 1!

Re: M41 target tank
Thank you!
Still few things to add to it Even if less is more, I still need to work a little bit on the weathering.
But anyway, after few weeks on the ''field'' it will get a natural weathering too.

Re: M41 target tank
When I first started looking I thought what on earth is he doing showing us pictures of wrecked tanks?
Then I realised,
DOHH sorry,
This is magnificent, I am very impressed.
Shaun.

Re: M41 target tank
Nice wreck. An early target I presume because the ones I saw (Mostly M47,s) where set out on qualifying range (80) at Grafenwoerhr Germany using real ammo and while filled with gravel didn't last very long. Everything was and blown into small pieces except the turrets which were quickly knocked off and taken the prequalifying range where 50 cal's and coaxes were used on them until they ere chipped away to virtually nothing during 2 weeks of constant pounding.
In the states I saw some wrecks at Ft Campbell KY (at that time the 101st airborne main training area converted into a basic training camp during the Vietnam WAR) that had little real damage on ranges that where at one time used for bazooka and recoilless cannon targets on which dummy war heads where used

Re: M41 target tank
A very impressive abandoned tank 'hulk'. Several members on the Forum have also produced authentic looking wrecks (but none as convincing as my face, first think in the morning ). With your abilities, though, you could be competing for the 'King of corrosion' title. Indeed, IMHO No RC 'battlefield' would be complete without a wreck or two, and yours could be a great example of the carnage there.
You'll find a few tasty looking wrecks here at the Otterburn firing range, even a few from the War (Cromwell and Sherman):
