Tamiya spare parts- from Axel's

I've ordered sprues and other bits for a slow burn Tamiya (hybrid) Panzer IV project from Axels's Modellbau. (
https://www.axels-modellbau-shop.de/kat ... iv-ausf-j/ ...here's a link for the uninitiated

)
You might wait weeks, but the parts always seem to turn up. The last time I placed an order, though, it was for an important 'D' sprue for the Panzer IV. This one contains the front and rear armour plates I need to fill yawning gaps in the upper and lower hulls. After a quite a wait, my money was refunded. It appears that Axel was unable to supply, nor order the part. This is frustrating, as UK suppliers are not nearly as approachable, nor do they have such an accessible website, as Axel.
By chance, I looked at some of the packs I'd received recently, and realised that Axel must source his parts here:

- Tamiya Spares Europe..
So it looks as if Axel has to go cap in hand to Dickies for bits...and Dickie's seem (as far as i can tell) to have a European monopoly on Tamiya spares. Mit anderen Worter...if Dickies don't have it, you don't get it. Thus, Axel is not the Alternativ für Deutschland

Elementary, My dear Peter!
Sherlock- Aside to downtrodden, hapless companion:
"The game's afoot Watson, why didn't you show me that telltale label before!"
"That damned sinister Von Moriarty leaves these little clues everywhere!"

Ahem..Many thanks, Painless, for the link. I see that they do ship abroad, but with the proviso that it is necessary '..to contact the Museum first'. The mention of a 'bowler' brings to mind paintings by Rene Magritte, who picked up his passion for the bowler in England..

This (sorry but) STUPID guy refuses to sell outside Germany. He does not even ship to Austria.
Some years ago I bought from him a Sherman kit, but since a year or so he refuses to ship outside Germany. Still dont know why.

Sadly for small stuff you'll pay more in shipping than the cost of the sprue and then almost as much again in customs processing charges

Good afternoon,
I agree with you about the cost. I think in this case ( as well as with distributors of Schumo parts like ETO ) that it all comes down to having what you want\need to progress your Build. We have a few guys on here who can build parts out of scrap stock and a few guys who can print parts out but when it comes down to having _exactly_ the part you want, then having extra sources of distributions\vendors is not a bad thing. There are many times I have bought and had shipped from England, China, Germany and even Australia ( with it's own special class of shipping fees ) just because what I needed was there. *bows*
regards,
Painless

Very true Mr Painless! I'm just lamenting the passing of Jason's store, he could get anything for less than anyone else:(
