Re: M-3 Lee Kit
Last night I was able to install and dial in the recoil servo for the sponson mounted 75mm gun. I'm very happy after I added a larger pair of servo arms and a metal servo. The little servo tester I picked up for $6.00 US works exceptionally and is very handy for sure.
The gears from Vex Robotics arrived today so tonight I will attempt to get the upper turret rotation assembly dialed in and ready to go.
More pictures to follow once I get everything together.

Re: M-3 Lee Kit
The Vex Robotics kit arrived and it's very nice. The gears are very strong and thick and come in many sizes including pinion gears for those who choose to use servos etc.
I've included some photos of my initial assembly after many tests. I also included a short video of it in action. ( George Lucas I am not )
So far I'm very happy with it. I'm using the DKLM RC metal rotation assembly from Maxmekker and aside from some sanding on the turret ring it should be good to go.

Re: M-3 Lee Kit
The gears from the kit matches the Heng Long rotation unit gears ?

Re: M-3 Lee Kit
Yes they do Mike exactly. What's nice is the kit comes with everything I've pictured here plus the one inside the hull Cost me $19.00 us with shipping. What leads to the question....MichaelC wrote:The gears from the kit matches the Heng Long rotation unit gears ?
Are the Heng Long turret ring and gearbox rotation assembly a standard size tooth like the ones they use in robotics? I'd have to say yes....
These move very nice and free.
Tanks alot....

Carl!
This is Applied Thinking in action. Besides, fasteners like nuts and screws, etc, I had not considered going outside the Hobby for applications like this. Good Job on opening another door for us!

A great result with that gear set, Carl. I just had a quick google and they're available here in Australia too, which is a pleasant change. It seems like they'll be very helpful for all manner of scratchbuilds!

Oh dam
What a great solution to the turret rotation.
Unfortunately I just finished mine last weekend. A different setup but in the end a similar result.
Again, well done Mr Rainford, very nice work.
Cheers
