I know the new Taigen PZ4 metal hull gearbox output shaft covers are fixed in place on the hull BUT does anybody know if the Gearbox output shafts have bearings in place or are they free to flex ?
Shaun.

Good afternoon, Sir,
I called Eric at IMEX\TAIGEN and posed this question to his voicemail. Once he rings me back, I'll post the results here.
regards,
Painless

Good afternoon,
I spoke to a lovely lady named Cheyenne who went off and located Eric. The Pz IV lower hull does not come stock with the output shaft bearings ( hull mounted ) The gearbox is the 3.1 with the black steel gears and does have bearings in it. Hull output shaft bearings can be bought separately from Taigen.

Thank you old friend,
Did the delightful Ms Cheyenne tell you how one is expected to fit the Output shaft bearings when the only way in to where they go is blocked by an irremovable metal cover?
It might be possible but that would mean buying a Taigen Metal hull to see if it can be done and by then it is too late if you discover you cant.
I don't have a problem dropping the rear rollers, if all else fails I can dremel off the originals and fit some I already have from the good offices of
www.welshdragonmodels.co.uk.
I have a pair of metal Gearbox output shaft covers which I would need to mill the insides out to accept the bearings but that would just be an excuse to use my new milling machine

But one is left with the feeling Why am I doing Taigen's job for them and PAYING them for the privilege
Yet again my Hero thank you for taking the time to find out and I hope you don't think I am shooting the messenger
Shaun.

Good afternoon,
Not at all. If I had this issue before me, before I would remove the existing covers ( and I know that Dremel-ing them out to accept the bearing a very cool way to do the job ), I would remove the gearboxes and install the bearings in the lower hull wall. That is just my two cents and worth exactly that. *bows*

I have the new metal pzIv (even posted a review about it in here) and they dont really fit well. The can sort of be sandwiched between the gearboxes and the hull sides, with some grinding, but they are impossible to attach properly.
Either consider getting the Asiatam lower hull(Yes. I actually mean that) or sawing/grinding off the output shafts and replacing them with plastic or metal covers, from the older version tanks.
Dont know if photobucket will show you or not, but there are a few pictures of it in my album
