New to RC tanks

Hi,

I'm a longtime forum lurker, first time engaging with the community.

A little about myself: I've been into a variety of RC over the years. Helis, multi-rotors, submarines, aircraft (still do some ultra-micro flying) and finally getting into RC tanks with a heng long king tiger.

I've also had a long history in scale modelling on and off, which seems to combine pretty well for this hobby. Can't claim that my weathering skills are anywhere near the quality of some of the tanks shown here, but looking forward to breaking out the airbrush on some camouflage patterns and learning some techniques.

I'm hoping to one day build up a Tamiya kit, maybe a Panther G? Always lusted after them in the hobby shop when I was young...

Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning a lot, and sharing what I learn with the community.

CT

EDIT: Should mention that I'm based out of Sydney, Australia.

Welcome CT, always nice to have some more locals around! Whereabouts in Sydney are you located? I'm in Newcastle these days, but I grew up the Hills District in Northwestern Sydney.

Thanks for the warm welcome all.

Raminator, not too far away from the Hills, right next door in North Rocks. Gotta say I probably envy you your commute times up in Newcastle, Sydney commuting is a pain!

Welcome CT., and allow me to congratulate you on two things: (1) A really inexplicable alias :D, and (2); the patience to 'lurk' for almost five years, judging by your joining up date ! That's almost Tank stalking :haha: You must have gleaned an impressive amount of info in that
time, and seen many contributors come and go. Time to post a few pics, I think...and a few informed observations. Don't be bashful :lolno:

G'day Mr Turtle !
Great to see you serving a long membership and finally getting into the light
Be nice to see pics of your projects as it/they develop.
Did you end up securing that panther from Tankarmy ?

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody.

I did indeed order the Panther G from tankarmy, along with the steel low range gearbox, 360 degree modification, photoetch and some metal detail parts. The service was very impressive, got my tracking number last night!

My plan is to run it for a little while, then strip it back with some dettol, prime and maybe consider some manner of ambush camouflage for it.

Looking forward to it, will keep you all posted.

CT.

Tell me about it! It used to take me nearly an hour to get to work in Wentworthville. These days my trip will only take more than five minutes if I get both red lights. It's funny, I don't miss the city at all; just my friends and family who live there.

Hope all goes well with the Panther, looking forward to seeing you get it in action. TankArmy are a class act and will have most of the parts you'll need/want.
