A mate in the UK sent this over to me today. Maybe you've already seen it. Still, some rather dogged research involved here. So, is this the last word on the subject?

Thanks for the article link. I cannot count the number of times I have seen stuff like this in the past decade. People to whom this sort of thing is supremely important exist in a rarified atmosphere of the Hobby that most of us never ( wish to ) attain. That first Battle-Spoon looks a lot like the Model Masters version of Dunkelgelb so that's close enough for me. Sheesh! Don't forget that this is supposed to be a _fun_ Hobby. To be fair, maybe the exacting research and spending loads of cash to get his hands on the actual paint used is that guys version of fun. It is certainly not mine.

If that keeps them happy, then that's fine with me. As long as they don't start criticising others. Personally, to me it's a bit the same as counting rivets. In any event, I would expect tanks to look different, depending on sun exposure etc. UV reaks havoc with colours.

Thanks. I've come across that website from time to time, and even posted links to it here. For modellers, it's the equivalent of taking holy orders. , and where would we be, you might ask, without obsessives? A lot of great scientists and inventors have that 'locked-on' (like a missile) type of trait. That said, it's an interesting article nonetheless, and I agree that the No 1 spoon in Dunkelgelb really does look like Tamiya's TS-3/ XF60 Dunkelgelb.... Congrats to the purists at Tamiya's research dept.
Now where are those Valium tabs...?

I find it interesting more for my museum friends who are doing 1 to 1 restorations. I have done kits based on the first and second spoons but haven't delved into the other 2.

Some things are so close ...
A lot has been written and discussed about this color.
But no one has ever come up with the idea to ask the color manufacturer ...
That brings light into the dark!

Still, when Vallejo would take this on, it would be nice and would add to the variety. Basically the first is a real yellow, the second is grayish, the third is brownish and the last is greenish. So enough variety to really allow for own preference. Then take into the equation possible thinner effects or amount of paint per surface area used. And you can paint how you like it. Didn't I read artistic license in that thread .
When I remember correctly form another thread there were three companies in germany all with some subtle differences in the paint.

I'm more of an "impressionist" kind of guy as in old school real art - the overall impression is more important than the tiny details.
