I ordered a set of cables from E-Bay and they came today within the due dates from "BIRIBIRI Island, which is part of the "Solomon Islands" according to the label. Which is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
I think China and India had better watch out a new competitor is coming over the horizon.
Shaun.

Hmmm..and why is it that shipping for some products from the Far East on Ebay can be less than from England to Scotland? :eh: Bizarre..mind you, the delivery times require a lack of urgency, and a reasonable life-expectancy, Shaun :D

Because the links are better than Scottish A-roads?!? A main road shouldn't have grass growing down the middle..... :D

Still think they should force UK couriers to run a Highlands & Islands service properly rather than being able to focus on the more profitable runs. Gives them an unfair advantage over Royal Mail.

ROB, Your observation is well made,
It is very easy living in the South East of England to take for granted the full on goods and services that we get and assume that this is the same Nation wide,
I searched for a Pillar Stand for a Drill, But I was after a Particular "Drapers" Model,
Everywhere I looked they were £87 ish + Post, then I found one Brand New for £53 FREEPOST,
I checked it out and the strapline said except Northern Ireland and the Highlands and Islands.
Like I said Spoilt Southerners.
We start moaning little realising that there are parts of the Union who would gladly settle for any kind of service.
Not for nothing are the inhabitants of this part of these Green and pleasant lands called "Softee Southerners" by our more Northerly Superiors.
Shaun,

:D ..
But the top ten roads in the UK representing a sort of pot-hole minefield are all in England:

Top 10
Cottage Lane, Ormskirk
Liverpool Road (A57), Salford
Chester Road, Poynton
Topsham Road, Exeter
Bingley Relief Road (A650), Bradford
Dunstable Road, Luton
Dividy Road, Stoke-on-Trent
Hills Road, Cambridge
Stratford Road, Solihull
Garrett Lane, Wandsworth
Mind you, in Scotland whilst couriers and Parcel Farce might have a smaller risk of busting their suspensions, they stand a greater chance of having a Pair of antlers coming though the windscreen.. 8O or Maybe the 'Highlands and islands' extortionate levy' is to cover medical insurance claims....or just another insidious means of giving Nicola Krankie the excuse she needs to break the Union :|

They couldn't find the roads in Sheffield otherwise we'd fill the top ten......

Re the antlers, a friend was on his motorcycle on his way to Plymouth at 5:30am a couple of weeks ago, to catch the ferry to Spain. A deer jumped in front of him, and although he killed it, he was unharmed and ended up with £4,000 worth of damage to the bike. That's the second time that has happened to guys on bikes down here that I know.

What I find inexplicable is that the council will spend a fortune repairing potholes, make a nice smooth road....and then spend another fortune installing spine jarring speed bumps to slow the traffic down??

Hmmm..and going over speed bumps in an ambulance with a collection of broken bones is no fun, I can tell you; from (exceedingly) painful experience. :O As for deer (and one wiped my bonnet out four years ago- luckily it wasn't a rutting stag 8O ), you now have a plague of the wee Muntjacs down there in England. Some escaped from Woburn Abbey a few years back and bred..well...ahem... bred like Muntjacs. The ornery critter's diaspora has now reached as far as the World's Longest Car park: The M25 motorway. These pint-sized African imports share little in common with native Roe and Red deer, with the notable exception of wanting to commit suicide by car. Your car.
Presumably as insurance claims rise- and fatalities (a few fair humans), so will transport costs and courier services. Oh, Woburn is me :lolno:
