Hello everyone

So this is my first shot at detailing a Tank.

I have very little experience in painting much less painting a RC tank and adding details and weathering and so on. In fact I haven't painted anything since high school back in 2002. So this is my Heng Long Tiger 1 Early Version. I had very basic tools at my disposal due to mostly my lack of experience and budget. I used a set of Testors acrylic camo paint set along with the stock brushes, one small jar of Tamiya flat white paint, and a small Tamiya fine point brush for the smaller details. Very simple and basic. For the final touch I used a razor to shave off some led off a pencil and used the powder to add a dirt effect to the tank. I used a cheap soldering iron to create all the battle damage, and I use a pencil to fill in and color the battle damage marks. I used 2 history books as reference "Hitlers war machine" and "Tigers at the Front", both of these books had plenty of pictures for me to get ideas, I took the ideas I liked the most and replicated them as best I could. This tank is neither technically accurate as far as damage nor is it historically accurate. I just made this tank in a way that would appeal to me and wouldnt look so "plain vanilla" Let me know what you guys think. ??? 8|

PS: I still need to do the tracks

I would recommend painting or weathering the steel looking tracks a bit as you stated. I like the battle damage as it has that " survivor of Kursk" look.

Always good to make it to your liking as its what you like that matters.

Have fun

Thanks guys, much appriciated. After the tracks I think Ill be done until I save some money to buy some of those flags and other add ons ive seen on ebay. I have a Taigen King Tiger almost all metal minus the hull and turret (Porche Turret) and a Taigen Panther G (plastic) but Taigen/Imex does such a great job of painting them I dont want to mess with it :shifty:

The one I'm thinking of I think is in England, sells sandbags, chains, rope and those identity flags, think it is HQ or something, from what I've read, lots of people have had problems, waiting ages for things, things not turning up etc.
I was tempted to buy a tamiya sherman from a shop in Scotland because it was the best price I'd seen. Then I read that shops online reviews, very poor, apparently they're rude to customers who have been sent damaged or not working things, and basically refuse to rectify it. So, I'm still looking.
Back to your flags, always best to read up on a seller.

Mick.
Yeah that's the one I was looking at. Hmmm I'd rather avoid the drama then
