Hi,

Got myself an inexpensive Torro T-34/85 for use as a base for an SU-122 conversion. For the cost, I am surprised by the quality of the assembly and of the standard paint job. So, before i cut it into pieces, I decided to bring it along on a weekend to the family farm in the Appalachian mountains and have some fun with my IPhone 6 camera and its various filters. All pictures taken in Saint-Ferdinand, Quebec, Canada. Hope you like them. Regards, Louis

I have the same 'phone, Louis, and it has almost made my Canon Eos redundant. Congrats on some tastefully posed and filtered photos. We've come to expect them from you. Like you, I've noticed that the quality of 'donor'
tanks has improved to the extent that it almost seems a sacrilege to begin sawing them up 8O (...I have a Sherman in that category, a donor for my Firefly project, or maybe it will be a 'do not!")

Here's an iPhone snap of the rear of a T34/85 I took last week, using a mono filter. This (functional) tank was part of a WW2 Russian Arctic Convoy festival, here in the Highlands last week...just a mile or two from my home. We also had a static Spitfire Mk V/ IX, and a ME Bf109. Have to say they looked curiously out of place in a Scottish Highland setting :)

Son of a gun-ner wrote:Wow, love the photos. That's just the version of the T 34 I want, I have the taigen white camo version with all the upgrades, 360, all metal running gear, metal chassis and turret, with quick release hull, how does your one run? Is torro like taigen, upgraded Heng-Long?
Hi,

This is the Torro plastic version, got it for about $110, perfect for conversion projects. Very fine details overall, rubber road wheels, gun recoil, IR gun, very responsive and fast. On the negative side, the sounds is not that great and all the hatches are molded shut. The controls are weird, FW/BW and turret rotation on left stick, R/L turn and gun elevation on right stick. I selected the Torro because the road wheels are of accurate size compared to the undersized and inaccurate Heng Long wheels.

This Torro T-34 is clearly a modification of the older WSN. You can see below that the WSN (in Polish markings) and the Torro T-34/85 are almost identical except some small differences, like the driver hatch that opens on the WSN, perforated engine hatch on Torro, horn cone on WSN and presence of ice cleats on the Torro right side. The Torro has an IR receptor on the turret top. I have not opened it to check the inside yet. I have a Vandra SU-122 conversion for the Torro. Yes, it is a shame to cut it apart.

Thank you all,

Hi there Your WSN T-34 is very nice and for the money the Torro t-34 is a very nice looking tank. With your skills and ability to build and design your newest addition should be quite an excellent tank when completed
