Mr Wibbly I really like how this has come out. Some if the seams are very hard to remove but with some epoxy type paint many will disappear. I wouldn't let them bother me too much. Do you make special primer that is self leveling that may help. I think it looks very nice as it is.
Tanks alot....

Re: M41 Gorilla
After numerous coats with the airbrush this is where I am now. I might try brush painting the 3D surfaces with neat Vallejo as that is thick, some of the ridges have gone and the rest are invisible from 3ft away. The snag with the airbrush is that it is 50/50 paint and thinners so it's never thick enough to put a thick coat on.
I am pretty much finished, will need to do the front and rear angled sections of the track guards, I put off doing those as they would only get knocked off while I am manhandling it during the build.
I discovered some Peddinghaus US stars lurking in the parts bin, so cut them out and put them on. The teeth on the rear blade are a weak point, they are so thin that they snap off if the spade drops down onto the workbench. I have some shock cord somewhere, if I can find it I'll try and make some sort of damper.
The shells in the ammo rack were given a coat of chocolate brown mixed with silver to give a brass effect.

W.W., Good morning,
The paint really brings it into the 'Here and Now'! Any chance of cutting off those printed, flimsy teeth and drilling holes in their locations and using cut off framing brads as replacements? The metal teeth would be completely solid and work as intended against recoil.
regards,
Painless

Re: M41 Gorilla
It might be worth a go, I could cut them from brass sheet, but getting them all identical would be a challenge.

Rather than brass, would the teeth from a comb work?wibblywobbly wrote:It might be worth a go, I could cut them from brass sheet, but getting them all identical would be a challenge.
What next? How about a SU 76 ? Note the lack of "i", so you'd need to figure out the chassis too.
Re: M41 Gorilla
Wow. that is one improvement
If you ask me, IMG_20170630_160157.jpg the texture of the side plate would be the way to go.
