HL Panther tread problems

Post by capt midnight »

My buddy has a HL Panther that I added a bunch of metal parts onto, and did up a winter paint job on. After we got it all put back together, there were problems with the right tread. It would throw the metal treads every time it was ran and was real glitchy and twitchy while running. It would also get the drive sprocket pulled put of the holes and try to run on the flats of the links.

Tried everything I could think of to correct the problems. Checked the gearbox thinking it might have a loose gear or some such. Nothing there and it already had metal gears. Tried removing a link, but that made it too tight to run. Put the link back in, still trowing the track. Looked into the electronics, thinking it could be a bad motor or MFU. Motor was good, and the MFU didn't have any problems, either.

The last time we were running, it started doing it again. Had to split the track to get it back on the sprocket. I took the transmitter to give it a run, and noticed that the trim lever was not centered. Put it back in the centered position and it ran like a top! No more glitching, and it stopped throwing the tread. No problems on pavement or grass.

It had been doing this since he started driving it, but that was the first time that I had personally ran it myself. Who would have thought that the trim switch would have caused such problems. Never even thought to check it until I happened to notice it.

Hope this might help someone!
