I think it's the parts as well mate, where they changed over from old to new kits and retained some stuff.

I wonder if anyone at Hooben built one successfully following instructions.

Hi,
I built the original one @) that was a real nightmare to say the least. Worked ok with the KV-1 units from Tamiya.im afraid to say it's up in the loft now along with most of my tanks!!!!!. But stick with it and it will turn out a great model  . Brian...

Solved the gearbox issues!

The plate needs to sit flat and Hooben give you three different size studs for spacing the gearbox mount. Why? I don't know.

The mount needs to be flat and level, so, I tested the studs in different positions with no avail.
Decided to make the studs the same height, bingo - all need to be 8mm. The gearbox slid in the bearing support and no issues.

3D printed mount 8mm thick on its way to me so I can continue.

Thank you :D

Wheels today! Brass bushings in between the wheels and ball bearings at the back to support the shaft at the arm point.

Go together quite well, bushings and bearings a nice tight fit. Greased the shafts before fitting.
