Pershing lack of speed

Has any one got any ideas on how i could speed up my H/L Pershing I can't believe how slow it is.
even tho I've changed the gear boxes to metal one's and i've put a bigger battery in as well it still slow.

Hi tackleberry
have you "broke" the new gearboxes in as sometimes they are tight and need to spin freely by hand if they are tight this maybe the problem

I've run my gear boxes in I had them on a bench soak test first and they are fine I'm thinking of putting some 450speed motors in
not sure yet.

just watch the motors as they have been known to fry boards
how slow are you talking as these things in real life werent that fast

First, make sure the gearboxes have been broken in properly. If not, eventually it'll bind up and blow your board. Then your tank will be really slow!
If 1.25mph is not fast enough for you, change the motors but beware! Graupner Speed400s which will net you about 2.1mph. You could also change the pinion to a 12T and while you'll definitely gain speed, you'll lose torque and tractive power. Max stock scale speed was 1.56mph.

and if I can't do any thing with it at least I've got my 3 Tigers to play with and my
I do know the real tanks were slow and were'nt built for drag racing but this model is just a bit to slow for my liking

I suggest the Protech Zoom 400 helicopter motors. A friend had those in his Pershing and it flew, I bought them off him and stuck them in a 13lb Tiger on an uncooled RX14 board. It whizzed around no problem. We both tried to fry the boards but nothing nasty happened at all.

Are the Protech Zoom 400 motors brushless? I did a quick Google and I'm only coming up with brushless motors, which I thought the HL boards were only capable of handling brushed motors.
I'd like to try these, but I want to make sure I get the right motors. Thanks.

Hi Try black cap motors there are slightly slower than speed 400 motors but it will moveit alot faster,It will be well above scale speed ,if you go down this route it will have an effect on the climbing ability ,it will run on flat ground very fast as soon as you hit grass or a hill you will have problems because the torque wont be there and the tracks will slip .
