T34/MG42 WRECK

Got a side project to do in between times off the Jagdtiger.
Based on a well known picture, I will do the tank, the tanks owner will provide the 'crew'
I have a base for it sorted, not yet sure how the ground will look, but it may be a winter scene.
The T34 donor is an '85 as its not smart or practiacl to ruin a good '76 version.
In fact its a very old WSN ...............an out & out toy.
I gutted it in 5 minutes and glued the battery cover in place.
Turret will be removable so the crew can be placed & accessed if required.
I love hacking tanks up, so I jumped to do this one.
The poor old WSN is great on accessory details, but is no more than a toy, so no harm done by blasting the side armour out of it !!
I will include metal tow ropes, and as it has rubber tyres, melt them for effect.
One track will be shed, and if it ends up a winter scene, the snow will be significant.

Should be fun

Was just thinking that if there was a fire, the tires would have burned; not melted. The armor would be greatly discolored from the fire, and there would only be ashes left where the tires were. On the other hand, if you wanted to just show a different kind of roadwheel on some of the wheel stations instead of the rubber tire type, you could replace one or two with the all-steel type. I can send you a couple from the spares of a Trumpeter kit, if you want. (Also some of the interior details from the kit that might help with the turret or hull areas). -Mike

Spot on Mr Sass, burnt/melted.........otherwise disturbed !
I honestly had not even considered any interior or alternative wheels, but if you are ok to drop a cheap envelope in the mail, I certainly would put them to good use.
Much appreciated Sir.

As the owner of this is the guy that painted my figures, plus sorted me for winter crew on my Tiger, PLUS the other day whipped up a storm on a $2 HL dog holder crew guy destined to be handling a Tiger shell on my Pz III munitionschlepper, hes well worthy of a top job
By the looks, the tank in the subject pic has blown its guts out but not been shattered like many others. Perhaps it was low on ammo when it got hit.
There is evidence of practice shots from the other side visible behind the MG crew, and these will also need to be done.

The owner is an ace painter, so my efforts will be a tough lesson if I dont get it right.

I know what you mean! :P

My father in-law loves seeing my tank builds. He loves them when they are at to point of looking factory new. He just can't understand why I ruin them by putting so much mud, dirt, and dents and damage on them! To me, tihat's the best part of the build.

I'm sure you'll have a phoenix arise from the ashes of a "destroyed tank". (Pun intended)

Very interesting. Please keep us posted Herman. And you made me think of using the rests of my hen long panther g upper and turret. Instead of going into the trash, I could make a turret pillbox.
