Howdy everyone, been a long time since I have been on forum. Don't want to bore ya with that. Waiting for axles to finish heng long panther g to metal hull with waltersons gearboxes, which by the way kick some serious butt! Bought an early model h/l tiger1 and purchased h/l ultimate edition 2 gearboxes. After grinding the sides of housings to make them fit past suspension arm brackets and got them aligned right, hooked up motor plugs same as stock, and controls don't work properly. Push forward stick and it turns right. Push stick left, goes forward. Tried switching motor plugs, no difference.switched motor poles, no difference. Rx board says 2.4ghz and looks and plugs in identical to rx18. I'am not the brightest bulb on the string but something is wrong! Any help would be appreciated.

I would first try re-binding the TX/RX. Probably won't help, but there's a chance it will and it's a very easy procedure. After that I might try a different MFU (if that's possible for you) and see if it does the same thing. That would at least eliminate some possibilities.

If you want to try Taigen TX/RX I can hook you up with a gently used set real cheap. Or, I'd be willing to just loan it to you, as long as you cover shipping. Unfortunately I don't have any spare HL MFUs except really old ones.

Than you max, l hate to sound dumb as a post, what's mfu? I spoke to imex today, at first he said he could'nt help me cause did'nt purchase from them, but could be motor and plug into RX board backwards. Gonna try fiddling with those one at a time first. Will let you all know outcome. This is a promo package with 2.4 g and steel track and sprockets.

Not sure why just simply changing gearboxes would cause the rx18 to not function properly. Unless there is something going one with one of the motors or the track tension on either side. Did you try pulling the gearboxes back out and testing?

Maybe remove the tracks and try the functions. Or did you solder the motor leads on and one is reversed. I had that happen to me from the factory with an upgrade gearbox set. Check rotation on each motor.

An easy test would be to remove the leads from the new gear boxes. Plug the originals in but don't install them and check rotation.

Is it possible that the power draw of the motors has fried the RX18?

Yes that is also a possibility since he had to make them fit the hull. Maybe binding up?

Okay, one at a time I changed motor polarity and got forward and back motion. Switched motor plugs on board and one more motor polarity and low and behold, it works! These gearboxes are very powerful and high geared. I need to start saving for metal hull cause they will probably be the death of plastic hull and rear idler wheel mounts! Thanks for helping, zoom zoom.

Good to hear you got it sorted out, and MFU stands for Multi-Function Unit. Some people also call it a motherboard.
