A great looking model, but $3000? That is a serious amount of money for a 1/16 scale tank.

I agree Mr Silversurfer. It's a stunning piece. The price is quite steep. Not sure if it's running stock electronics or not.

Pricey, but assuming around £1000 of parts you're looking at £1500 labour - at around minimum wage that's 150 hours, or around 4 weeks.

Given those sort of rates, I should be charging around £1000 for my Nashorn kits. Personally although it looks a genuine piece of art, and a lot of work has gone into it, I don't think it's worth anything like that sort of money, but that's from someone who would rather build a JS2 from scratch than pay tamiya £800 plus for their kit.

Alwyn, possibly but how much time is you working and you watching the printer/cutter? What does a full Ludwig kit cost (including all the extra bits)?

Hi Rob, yes good point, but that doesn't factor in the many hours spent designing/redesigning/test printing/modifying/reprinting etc of the parts, plus they all have to be cleaned and assembled which is no small task. There is also the rather tricky job of stripping and modifying the chassis. I have looked at the price of other kits and the churchill and centurion do add up to a princely sum (not far short of £1000 and then you have to build and finish it), but a Stug 3 is basically stock parts plus the prettying up which I agree looks to have been done to a high standard. I can see the value in a non-standard kit, but I can't see $3000 in a modified Stug 3.... Maybe it's me?

I agree with you Alwyn not taking anything away from this model it's absolutely stunning in my opinion.... But to ask $3000.00 is quite steep for a 1/16 scale model of any tank. It appears to have a basic Heng Long tank chassis and hull with a lot of amazing touches and details ( stock electronics too?)

I would imagine anyone would be proud to own and display it just so hard to put a price on a "work of art" in my opinion vs what it is a beautifully crafted model of an Rc tank

Several guys on here and elsewhere in the 1:16 RC world can build to that standard of finish, but they seldom build to sell to make money/break even on time, effort and expense.
Tis a gorgeous model though
