postman arrived today with a great little package for me :)
my henglong(platinum edition) 1/16th M4A3 Sherman RC Tank With Smoke, Sound And BB Gun
"WOW!"
its fantastic, and has all the bells and whistles you could want, inc the newer style controller unit,
which has done away with the long Ariel ,and you have a moulded stubby thing instead,
The Ariel on the tank is shorter too,
A big improvement on the old longer ones
also you can now access all functions from it,
I.e you can switch on/off the smoke unit,
also you can vary the tank sounds volume ,
and to access the machine gun, a button top left of the controller,
to fire the main gun you push up the left stick and the button top right of the controller,
also something different is the engine noise,
now it keeps pace with the tanks movement , and slows down as the tank does,
a vast improvement on the older ones,
the front machine gun flashes to ,
the start up noise is very good and quite true to a normal tank,
, this model has the metal idler/drive sprocket,
As well as the updated metal gear box
and all metal suspension ,
And like the real one a rubber outer on the road wheels,
it comes with a host of extras and the usual plain tank commander
so I cheated and got this one
have fun its a great tank

Yes, Heng Long have certainly upped the quality of the models lately, and especially the accessory packs that accompany them. One thing that puzzles me slightly about your ~Sherman (and we can share your delight :D )
is that it's described as the '5.3 system'. Now that's the latest MFU and Transmitter offering alternative sound features; far more authentic sounds than hitherto, in fact. It's described here at Haya's:
http://www.hayaltd.co.uk/heng_long_24G_ ... 25770.aspx
Yet the Transmitter you have there looks like the previous model, with only one sound. Still, it seems to have given you a big dose of pleasure, and that's what really matters.
Ooops, just noticed the second TX below the Taigen one you posted. So, you received the one with two sounds then? That's the setup that caused quite a buzz here when it was introduced last year, on the T90.

nice buy mate, glad to see you got Heng Longs new set up, the sounds are a vast improvement to the old. All you need is a better quality speaker now.

hi yes metal everything from gearboxes and tracks to the idler gear sprocket at the rear of the tank,
to the front drive sprocket,
and the road wheel suspension bogeys ,
and the road wheels,
which like the real ones have a rubber outer surrounding the wheels core .

hi thanks for that,
another feature of the newer handset,
is you can change the volume of the tank etc ,
a real bonus if the noise gets to irritating ,
all functions can be done from it
yes its a vast improvement on the old system,

I still have my tiger 1 which to my mind is still a great tank
and got it out the other day for a run-around,
it still goes very well too :)
