RC Tank Warfare community hobby forum

I got home from today and it was an unusually warm day so I decided to break out my Taigen Tiger 1 outside for a little fun. I must have spent 30 minutes going over obstacles fighting imaginary tanks shooting at them with my airsoft gun. I was in 7th heaven. I finished my battles and let off some stress and felt great. I took my battery out to recharge and set my tank on it's shelf and focused on answering emails and looking on line for new stuff to add to my tank. I then glanced at my tank and to my horror something was wrong with my tank. My commander was sitting where he normally does but his machine gun was missing. Somehow it fell off with the mount while I was enthralled playing tank commander. I grabbed a flashlight because it was dark outside and tried to retrace my battle through my yard but to no avail I couldn't find it. I am hoping that my roommates didn't run it over with their cars. I will look for it tomorrow after work. I was so mad because I thought about how easy that machine gun detaches from the tank but I figured I'd see it and put it back on. Woulda, shoulda, coulda !!! If I don't find it It'll be my first casualty of war. Has this ever happened to anyone else and is there another way to keep that machine gun on the turret ?

Magnets or glue (rubber cement or shoe goo if you want to remove it later)

You're certainly not the Lone Ranger there. I have spent a lot of time on my hands and knees in the backyard over the years scouring the grass for lost hubcaps, helmets, grab handles and other bits and pieces. I usually manage to eventually track them down and reattach them a bit more securely for the next run but it still happens from time to time and that's why I avoid some of the finer photo etch detail parts on my tanks. There's nothing worse than spending good time and money on some small parts only to loose them forever in the garden mulch on the first run.

The biggest tip I can give you is to avoid shrubs and other tall plants. Its amazing how easily they can strip detail parts off a tank and make them disappear.

Don't worry it's not the last bit you'll lose either.

Too true, I have spent quite a bit of time searching the garden for parts

I found it but it wasn't in the place I thought it was.

I actually found it below a bird house in the back yard. Maybe the bird needed protection.
