Hi,
Here is a Sturmpanzer 43 Brummbär self propelled infantry support gun.

This is the Modellino (Panzerparts.com) resin and metal conversion kit or the early/mid model, mounted on a Heng Long Panzer IV chassis. I added Atak zimmerit, Tank Modellbau Schurzens, sloped rear deck with Mato doors and some scratchbuilt items. The Modellino kit is well done but the driver position gave me trouble. Mounting the Schurzens is also a challenge.

I have a general rule that pretty tank should be clean, ugly tanks must be dirty, especially rare beasts with zimmerit on.

So, so subtle, Louis. The wear and tear looks entirely credible. What amazes me most about your presentation style is that while first impressions are good; it's only when the images are clicked on, that they treble in size
and leap out with astonishing detail; sort of Jack-in-a-box style. ... But, it's very effective.

Modellers should not be afraid to take close-up pictures of their models. With age, my eyes are not as good anymore. By zooming on pictures on screen, this is actually how myself see my mistakes or things that can be improved, then I correct them. The kits are also more detailed than we think.

A tank is never really finished. I overhaul and improve some tanks with new details and camo when I see an opportunity. Some of my earlier models get complete makeover. A few years ago, I learned how to use Mig dry pigments (mainly Black, dark steel and various rust colors) applied with selected hard dry brush of different sizes. It was a revolution. It takes practice, but it really improve the looks of models once you get to know how to use them (after some initial disasters of course). But in the end, it is a question of personal taste how you finish your tanks.

I am glad other people than me can look at these models.

Each one is a true masterpiece................we would all benefit from an actual build from the get go right to the end, as I'm certain you have ideas and techniques that we could learn from for our versions.

Thanks for adding a few technical details,Louis. More info please. Maybe a work in progress showing the Mig Dry process you mention would go down well. As HB has suggested, seeing the stages leading up to the completed model could be of real benefit. Since you've worked so hard to perfect the technique, you should then 'pass it on' so to speak, to us apprentices..
