When building Aircraft or Armour a lot of the time the work is inverted and if the detail is already in place it becomes easy to damage it,
My answer is to buy a few Very cheap Large Viscose sponges from a petrol station and lay them out on the workbench and place the object to be worked on upon the sponges,
It works for me,

Resourceful as ever, Shaun Good tip. I wonder if the same approach could be adopted when massaging the aches and pains (human mechanical woes..) out of an ageing partner?

A cheap addition to this tip is a rectangular 2 litre pail of ice cream (Unfortunately empty)with a slot cut in one end for the barrel with a big sponge inside will usefully take a Tank the size of a PZ3/4 inverted,

If I am unfortunate enough to need to work on one of mine with all the crap I attach, I use an old pillow to rest the tank into while I work on the underside.
I do have many sponges used to wash cars, and they are also handy to use as supports for various bits as required.

Whilst here in the home of Empire we still sleep on Goosedown Pillows, My travels across the world rapidly introduced me to "Dunlopillow" SPONGE filled pillows,
So am I not saying the same thing eh eh, whilst prodding you firmly in the chest at the same time !!
Although stuffing a "Dunlopillo sponge filled pillow into a 2 litre ice cream pail could be a challenge.
