Vintage Tamiya King Tiger running Ibu2
I have had this Tiger for a very long time and with the inspiration of many on the forum have given it an overhaul.
I wanted it to have the worn and weary look with a red oxide turret with some cast texture added. I also wanted to merge the old classic king tiger in its original colors and the late war replacement turret look.
Thanks to Ian (Mr Tankbear) I have added the ibu2 board with king tiger sounds and still utilize the Tamiya dual clutch setup with an upgraded high torque RS 540 motor from my vintage parts collection.
Included before and after electronics pictures
I will have a couple of videos of it running in the Ibu2 electronics section of the forum.
It was fun to get this Tiger running like my newer ones and thank you for looking.
Carl

I like it. How does your turret turn with the antenna? My turret runs poorly

Thanks for the feedback from everyone. the turret rotation is a bit of a work in progress. It runs the stock setup from Tamiya the early version with the blade switch. It is actually pretty good as long as I have the servo dialed in just right.Rad_Schuhart wrote:I like it. How does your turret turn with the antenna? My turret runs poorly

Then keep that rotation unit, because the newer one is pure shit. Most people puts a brace over the unit, and replaces or glues the clutch but the unit just cant handle the weight of turret. It works ok in my sherman but the Tiger turret is bigger and heavyer.c.rainford73 wrote:Thanks for the feedback from everyone. the turret rotation is a bit of a work in progress. Yes I agree with you. My thought was originally attach a heng long turret ring and wiring like my other Tamiya King Tiger but this one seems to run just fineRad_Schuhart wrote:Then keep that rotation unit, because the newer one is pure shit.
