They look a bit like Letraset transfers

I'm not familiar with Letraset, but these are Woodland Scenics. I also picked up some decals from Micro-Scale and they look like they'll work well for guys that are more comfortable with traditional decals. The selection is much better in dry transfers, though.

Letraset have been producing dry-transfer letters/fonts/ numbers since the 1950s. The company was world renowned until desktop publishing began to eat into its market in the 1990s, Gary. A British company initially, but Letraset was bought out and 'shipped' (in a sense) to France. Familiar story in the modern age of 'buyouts' and 'outsourcing', eh?
Fonts came in a variety of styles and sizes. To apply a letter, you merely rubbed the other side of the sheet from the transfer, with coin or pencil, until the letter/symbol or number was firmly fixed in place. In fact, I think Letraset would probably work quite well on tanks, but some form of weatherproofing would be needed afterwards.

I really like these Woodland scenic's transfers and they have them at my local hobby shop. In fact, they have quite a good selection at the local hobby shop so I think for transfers I'm all set.
