Am I right in thinking that, if I get a Clark tk24 board and a TARR mk3 or 4 smoker that even with the stock Taigen 2.4 radio, I will still get proportional smoke, drive, turret rotation and separate gun barrel up and down movement, neutral gear and two machine guns? Or would I need to upgrade my radio?

You need another radio.

Not quite, the Taigen receiver (rx) is built into the MFU and uses Taigen's own protocol. The Clark board has no receiver built in so you can plug in any 4+ channel receiver (and matching radio). To run the Clark, then, you need a separate radio/receiver (Tx/Rx) set as your Taigen radio/receiver/MFU is redundant as far as the Clark board is concerned.
