Hi,
Looking for info on the best battery type, make and place to buy a lipo or cell battery for the Torro M16 halftrack in the UK.

If you go to youtube and type Torro M16 there is a box review and he fits this battery (see below) and runs it on that ok, which surprised me as it is 11V and not 9.6V but works fine. Problem is I can not find that battery online anywhere in UK, anyone have better luck or find a better option let me know. The battery listed below has the correct fitting plug for the Torro M16 socket and drops into the battery box nicely, do you know of others?

Have a look at this site. http://www.componentshop.co.uk/ Even if you can't find exactly what you are looking for, I would suggest contacting them with your requirements, as they are ale to make up a lot of batteries themselves. Just bear in mind, Royal Mail imposes restrictions on sending Lithium Batteries through the postal services.

Take the measures of the battery box, and then go to hobbiking uk, and introduce them.

Then, buy the one with biggest mah and done :)

Dan,

Here is what I got. Have to DIY a connector to use the existing socket.

Great stuff, thanks for the help. Here is the link below to a supplier which says they have the battery; E-flite 3s lipo 1000mA 11V
ELFB0997 15C but sadly if you look at the item description you will notice the part number is for another battery ELFB0998 even though the title states it is ELFB0997, and the spec shows it as an EFB0998 also with 20c rating not the 15C of the item Title. The ELFB0998 is also a bit longer, so less of a fit for the battery box. Here is the link so you can see what I mean, would the extra 5C difference cause a problem and damage the circuit board? http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/115767/

The C rating is just how much the battery is capable of discharge if the board requires it, so there is no concern in this case as the motor is quite small and won't be requiring anything close to 15C or 20C. I would be more concern with the voltage as that is much higher than the stock 9.6V.

That is good to know, so the c rating is ok, the youtube link shows the guy running this 11 volt battery on this 9.6 v model but I wonder if it is a risk as you suggest, probably not worth the risk then. This battery does fit perfectly in the torro M 16 and even has the correct connector but if it blows the circuit that is an expensive mistake. Anyone got other battery info or suggest other risk free fitting battery, must be a few guys here running these torro m16 halftrack. sadly I do not understand battery ratings so need to ask. Thanks again to all the guys above who posted info. Keep suggesting options as others will be happy to find a suitable battery for these models.

Michael, After your comment about the 11.1 voltage battery that Seigfried first mooted I checked the "ELMOD" paperwork,
The separate warnings and advisory pamphlet warns against inputting any voltage in excess of 12 Volts.
I have no idea what the original "WSN/TORRO" board limit might be but it does seem to allow a little leeway for Seigfrieds suggested battery.
