RC Tank Warfare community hobby forum

Hi everyone, I am the newbie of newbie's, I have never ventured into the world of R/C but have been thinking about dipping a toe in the water for a while, and after finding this site and having a browse have decided to go the whole hog. I have some experience of real tanks having crewed and commanded a Centurion Bridgelayer and various Chieftains but when it comes to modeling, apart from a few Airfix kits as a kid I am a complete novice. So any advice as to the best kit to start with would be much appreciated, also any information as to dealers in the North East of England. Thanks in advance for thousands of suggestions.

Hi Scoop47 , First of all welcome to the world of RC tanking ! As far as kits go , Tamiya are probably your best choice - they come with just about everything you'll need - save paint and glue , and as you have some modelling experience they should prove no great challenge - they are excellent quality. ( Take a look in the various sub sections here and see - the download section has kit instructions too , to give an idea of what you get)
Or , maybe a RTR ( Ready-to-run) tank might appeal instead ? There are many to choose from

Welcome, Scoop. Your Centurion connection will appeal to many on the Forum, as will any tasty stories you have of your experiences with that British icon.
My advice would be to try a budget RTR tank first, to see whether you like what you're getting into. You can then afford to tinker with a it a bit, and maybe begin to embellish it. That's the usual pattern of addiction here. That way, it's no great loss if the bug doesn't bite. Heng long Tiger 1s are often a budget rite of passage for the curious, and many members here probably got hooked
with that first whiff of Panzer plastic.
