"Best" BBs?

When you look up this topic on line, one of the things you find is dire warnings about buying your BBs from "sporting goods stores" and other such places, rather than from a "real" air soft establishment. They promise you all sorts of damage to your equipment and so on.
How much of that is truth and how much is baloney?
Anyone?

cant really vouch from the tank point of view that much, but from bb's themselves, I do a lot of airsoft myself, and the cheap bb's can be very detrimental to your airsoft gun.
some can break up when being fired and jam up in the barrel or hop chambers, cheap ones also tend to swell over time and cause jams etc..
From a tanks bb firing unit I cant see it affecting it that much, but if they cheap and break up, then sure it could cause issues, it's not like we need precision bb's for accuracy etc.. maybe just go for a mid range bb? I use bb's from Guarder or blaster for my airsoft guns and tanks, get a bag of about 5000 for £10 sterling, unsure of prices in the States.
hope that helps a bit, maybe some more experienced 'tankers' can give input from the tanks perspective.

Here's one such article, in fact:
http://www.airsoftmegastore.com/GoodBBs.aspx
I'd be suspicious of anyone recommending a specific 6mm BB, unless the review was personal and not linked to a particular store in this..the wonderful global market. Personally, I've never had a problem with the cheapo high-viz yellow BBs supplied by the likes of Taigen. The tolerances in Tank airsoft cannons are not exactly tight, and nor are the FPS Earth (or, in this instance
Ball) shattering. If you happen to have a 300-400 FPS CO2 powered quality reproduction M16, you might want to consider buying BBs that don't shatter. Otherwise, for HL, Taigen etc., I don't think it's an issue...
but that's just my experience.

Good morning,
I'll go the personal preference route. I'm working my way through a bottle of Glow in the Dark 6mm .12 gram plastic shot from Crosman. They work in all my airsoft tanks including the 1/24 scale VS Tanks variety and the Tokyo Marui Tiger 1. The airgun on that thing is exceptional and will fire across a couple of backyards' distance.

Painless

Is there any ballistic advantage to using .20 gm. BBs?

Heavier BB won't fly as far that's about it. I just buy 5000 count jar from Walmart, .20 gram I believe. Biodegradable cause my daughter was afraid animals would eat the BB's.
