1:16 Scale Figures - making it 'pose' the way you want it.

I got emails from 2 of our members here who saw my Jagdpanther build YouTube video. They were asking where I got the tank figure I used for it. It is from Verlinden Productions item #2381 (attached file #1).

I decided to put this simple DIY how to make these goodies pose for you.

1. Visualize how you want it to pose
2. Know what type of material you are dealing with - is it resin or plastic. Verlinden is usually or should I say is always made of resin and Tamiya ones are made of plastic.
3. For resin DO NOT HEAT IT! Cut it using a modelling saw (attached file #2). For plastics...this one you heat
4. Cutting (resin) - make a 'V' cut on the section you want to change/bend. An example of this is on the arms or legs. You also don't want to cut it too short or too long otherwise you'll loose the scale...your model will like a Frodo Baginns, a hobbit. LOL.
5. Bending with plastics - I normally use a blowtorch...no...not THE blow torch used in automobiles but the blowtorch use for shrink tubes. Like this - http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.shop/en/product/T1380
6. Resin and plastics - once cut/ heated use some REALLY small amount of contact cement to put it in place. This is helpful to see how it would actually look like (is the elbow ok? Is it too long? etc. etc.). The small amount of contact cement is necessary so that if you need to make changes, you can easily break it off.
7. Once you are happy with the result, and if it is not going to obstruct further painting...fully cement it and then apply putties or fillers (attached file #3 to #6) and let it dry. File it later on.
8. Last is ofcourse painting. But that is another story.

Remember...nothing is impossible. What ever your mind can conceive and believe...you can achieve.

Hi Jon, Greate tips. Ive tried them out on a Tamiya figure, to change the position of his arms and hands and im quite chuffed with the result. You might be able to see what ive done ive done in my show off post, Panzerkampfwagen. He started out as Tamiya's wermacht on manouvers.
