First homemade speaker box

Hi Chaps
I used a Visaton FR7 for this. I had an FR7 in a small bought box in P III beforehand, the sound from the homemade is so much better the depth of sound is vastly improved and its alot louder. I think this must be the size of the box that helps. The speaker is glued and screwd i then stuffed it full with cotton wool and most importantly made sure there were no gaps. It seems to work a treat. The good thing about making your own is that you can make the box as large as your space allows.

That is great! All the FRS 7 users should also give a listen to the FRS 8 I like it even more..more rich deep sound than the 7.

Will try one out tao. Where I buy my speakers they only sell the FR7 but I think Ian might sell the FRS8 I'll have a check. cheers

I only looked into this sort of stuff fairly recently. It turns out that there's a whole lot of complex mathematics behind speakerbox design that is frankly beyond me, but there are a bunch of websites online that let you plug in the speaker's stats and it'll generate enclosure dimensions for you. Using a Visaton FRS7's values gave me speakerboxes that were literally cubic feet in size, so I just built the largest box I could physically cram in between the suspension.
It's loud, and it works. I suspect most of us are after volume before audio quality anyway.

Miyareddy. A nice polite introduction, giving some details of any tanks, or skills you can bring to the forum, and your approximate location, would have been nice, before commenting on a thread which is eight years old.
