Well having got the 3d printer and got it working, I now find there is a diy cnc machine available for slicing up plastic sheet at an almost affordable price..... 8O 8O

It's not 64bit compatible (looking at the info) so I'd wait for them to fix that. Don't think you can get 32bit desktops any more...... Could be an interesting piece of kit.

Hi Rob, I am fortunate/unfortunate that I have a 32 bit desktop with windows XP on it so that wouldn't be the problem. I think I'm going to have to build some Nashorn kits to get some finance......

:) There's that problem too. More thinking it's an expensive bit of kit with little/no forwards compatibility. Once it's 64bit & USB controlled then it's a far more attractive piece of kit.

Only 3 axis so effectively you're looking at flat parts - printer will do that. Does show how cheap the technology is getting - makes me wonder whether I'll need a lathe/mill/drill when I get the workshop sorted!

Hi Rob I was looking at it for cutting styrene sheet to patterns as printing flat sheet in abs doesn'the give as strong result as styrene.

Fair point. Would make track links possible too - may need to form in two (three) parts to get the teeth & tread.

Edit -
First sheet lower section (30-odd links on sheet)
Second sheet upper section (same pattern as lower, include slot for teeth)
Third sheet teeth (run in pattern to fit sheet 2)

Printed in sheets so you can glue all three together at once than cut out & clean the links.

I'm struggling to see what the bed size is, is it on the ad and I'm just blind?

It's in the description, but the print is quite small. Should be going to Specsavers? ;D
