Beginner question, best battery for HL tanks?

I have the stock HL yellow battery in my HL Tiger 1 tank, which they all seem to come with but I would like to know what battery will give me the best run time and most power without damage to the stock electronics? Where would I get one and are they the same as those used in RC cars etc. Which battery maker and volt rating is best to use. This has probably been discussed before on the forum but I could not find a thread with it on. Thanks guys.

I know the newest Heng Long tank comes with a Lipo battery. I believe they are 1800mah I'm sure the mah can be increased. I have updated my latest projects to Clark boards with 7.4 volt 5200mah batteries and they run for a much longer time than even my biggest non lipo batteries run in tandem. (dual batteries setup)

I'm sure someone on here can help soon!

Not sure if the newest rx18 runs the lipo with 7.4 volts?

I'm quite interested in the answer to that question myself!

My T90 came with a lithium ion battery, not a Lipo.

Hi I run my tanks on 4300 ma/h Nim batteries they come the same size and voltage as standard HL batteries but last a heck of a lot longer and are not a bad price last 3 packs was £19.95 each and I've had them for 2 years now.

I use these

They just fit in a henglong battery box and you will get fed up driving before it goes flat. The one in my panther was used for battles and various runs through out the day at our last club meet and was only half empty when i recharged it that night.

obviously you will need a lipo balance charger if you go this route.

I don't want to sound like a scaremonger,
BUT!!
I still run an RX18 as well as Clark, ASP, and IBU2 boards and although I still have a couple of unused NI-MH Batteries I run all my Tanks on LI-PO Batteries and as long as you treat them with respect they are absolutely the answer to providing a decent run time,
Now the warning,
Some time ago a member of this Forum reported that when they went to initialise a new Clark board with a fully charged LI-PO it fried the board,
One of the suggestions from another Forum member was that when using a New control board, whether it be ASP, IBU or Clark for the first time, It would be gentler on the board using a NI-MH or if they are still out there a NI-CAD and after the first use of the board then go to LI-PO Batteries.
I have no idea if it would be a good idea or not but I can see some sense in it.
Shaun.

Shaun I agree. The route I go also is nimh for the initial start and run and then Lipo since I have also heard this story about the boards
