Hello. New guy in California

Hey guys. Looking to get into a good 1/16 scale RC tank to start. Would like to pay under $200.00 if possible, but don't don't want to waste money on a crap tank and then later find a better one that didn't cost that much more. Really like the german tanks, and would like a good PZKW III. Any suggestions on which company, or just which company to avoid?

Heng Long's are decent starting tanks. I like the Shermans. They have PZIII, and I think a PZIV. Depending on what you want to do with it the simple plastic tanks (non metal tracks and such) work just fine. Others around here like full metal versions. Are you a modeler who wants to super detail or just a tank to run around the back yard with the kids. Amazon has several model worthy tanks, as does e-bay. And there are a couple of North American distributors.

Oh, and welcome aboard!

Hello and welcome! Check out IMEX tanks they're in Florida. You may spend a little more then $200 but just remember the more money you spend up front the less you need to spend on mods to make it run better.

G'day mate. I tend to go with the other option of getting my tanks the way I like them.
Get the absolute basic version.
Then order the specific bits I need to guarantee that what I ordered is what I get, then do the work to make it the way I want.

There are a myriad of parts available from all wonders of European suppliers depending on what tank you get.
I cant vouch for the U.S. suppliers, but the good thing is, there are plenty here who can !
Great to have you along.

Hows the drought situation in C.a. now mate ?

HL Sherman and PZ111 are both well done and good runners. The PZ111 has a barrel that is to large to allow for the bb shooting function. All depends on how detailed you want to get but the basic tanks can be had for around a hundred bucks plus shipping if you check out EBay north America. Look for they RC Dynasty store ( they are a Canadian supplier that has many metal detail parts) they have always been reliable when I have ordered stuff from them.

Hi, I have just been to Greengiants recommended site "rc dynasty" on E-BAY and I hope that Greengiant can tell me I am wrong,
But every Heng Long Tank they have for sale is displayed with the old 27Mhz Crystal powered Transmitter/Receiver,and a whip aerial over the engine bay and if that really is what they are selling I would advise you to avoid this dealer,
New Heng Long Tanks come with a 2.4 Digital transmitter/Receiver which of course does not have or indeed need an aerial,
The latest Transmitter has a chrome strip across the front centre of its face and similar chrome strip down each side, do not settle for less or you will be disappointed.
Shaun.

Thanks for the advice from down unda'. Drought is better, but no matter how much it rains they assure us it won't help the drought.
