Hi guys,

I want to clean the paint of the KT I bought, does anyone have tips for removing th paint without damaging the details underneath?

I've heard window clearner can work, has anyone tried this method?

If it is acrylic, and most model paint is, then it is water soluble as it is a water based paint. I have repainted my Tiger 5 times, and getting the old paint off has been achieved with nothing more than stripping down the hull and using washing up liquid and a toothbrush. Any stubborn paint has come off with a nylon kitchen scouring pad, or fine grit emery.

Just make sure that water doesn't get into anything electrical.

Window cleaner is, I think, vinegar based, so that will do the job and remove any grease/residue that is present.

I use ammonia based window clearer for stripping acrylic paint and cleaning brushes etc. For enamel I've used Feric Chloride PCB etching solution in the past, but I'm not sure how easy that is to get hold of these days.

I'll vouch for Windex.  It absolutely strips acrylic paint in the blink of an eye!!!!!!

believe it or not but i swear by mr muscle oven cleaner,depending on the paint type it will remove everything in ten to 30 mins without damaging the plastic. then just rinse in warm soapy water. job done!

Yep, I can second that.

You can also give your tank a coat of diluted Johnsons Klear between each coat of paint. You wont lose any detail and the paint and Johnsons Klear will wash off with hot water.

if it has tamiya paint on it use Mr muscle oven cleaner ( the foam stuff ) leave it for about 30 mins and wash it off with hot water and it,ll strip the paint right off.......

In america I know an item called simple green. But as most of us here in England don't have such a "luxury", I had a look at other things which will not empty your wallet. Mr Muscle is certainly a good way to go, but other choice could be dettol disinfectant or just some nail polish remover will work. (although is a bit more costly)
