My Intro

Hi Guys,
Just introducing myself as a new UK member. I collected Heng long 1/16 RC tanks back in 2012 and never really got into modifications for them until now, I did the usual basic simple mods on the HL Tiger to correct flaws, barrel length insert, hatch position mod, gun mantlet mod but never anything electronic. Always been scared to fry the electrics but now I want to learn some basic skills to change some features in my tanks. I am really into learning how to fit barrel recoil and flash units into HL bb tanks and other mods to make them look more true to the original tank. I have been making models for 35+ years, so can do a good airbrush paint job, weathering and scratch build from plastic card but I am new to changing electronic components and messing with the circuit boards. I can solder but I am scared to damage internals. So I will be looking for mod guides and help from those who already have these skills. That is why I joined this forum, so be ready for lots of novice questions and bare with my request for a simple idiot guide for anything I try to do. I am really glad to see things have moved on since 2012 and now the 2.4 GHz systems are available. I think my first project will be getting a T34 HL and modding the track height and fitting a barrel recoil unit (Anyone done that and know how?). I was thinking also of just getting the Taigen T34 as they do ir version with barrel recoil and flash already done but feel that is chickening out of learning how to build or fit a recoil unit myself. I am not really interested in IR gaming or BB shooting tanks, just in building a realistic looking model RC tank in 1/16 scale with a recoil unit and flash fitted etc. We all have to start somewhere with zero knowledge, so this is where I begin my journey. I will try and post reviews of my mod progress and where I got the components as I go along for other beginners to follow. I am looking forward to adding new 2.4GHZ RC tanks to my collection and modding those.
