Tiger I Early Commander's Cupola Interior Details

Has anyone had any experience adding interior details to the early pattern Tiger I Commander's Cupola in 1:16 scale? I have seen etched brass kits for this on several web sites and I think possibly even an all resin kit.

I have never attempted to work with etched brass parts to date, and probably it's time I dove into the deep end. They just seem like they might be very delicate to work with successfully.

Aber produce a 1/16 PE kit for the early cupola it's quite in-depth and definitely not for the inexperienced

I've got the Osprey Modelling the Tiger 1 book, and on the 1/16 model at the end the guy uses the full Aber kit. The cupola details are incredible, but so advanced to finish.

I've seen cast sets for the detail, not sure how good they are though.

Yes, it's that ABER kit I have seen that looks so great. The quality is certainly worth the price, but for me the price would hurt a bit too much if I buggared it.

I emailed the chap who owns the eBay store which recently had the Verlinden Maybach kits for sale to see what he has seen about for the cupola details. He's got a very nice 1:15 Verlinden Mk II Ben Gun Carrier kit for sale. That would be an interesting RC conversion project.

I'll let you know what I hear back on the cupola quest.

Best regards,

David
