Hello from Rutland

I finally succumbed to buying an R/c tank a few weeks ago - no surprises a Heng Long Tiger - and find the whole thing a bit addictive!

Didn't really need another hobby, being into trains and buses, model and real, and also plastic modelling with a few 1/35 tanks etc under my belt, but there you go.

Looking forward to learning, and hopefully putting something back as my experience grows.

John.

Welcome. As you have already discovered, this is an addictive hobby. What you may not have realised is that it has been established that there is no known cure. One tank is not enough. Nor are two or three, or even four. Make friends with your bank manager now before it's too late. Seriously, you will enjoy yourself. There is mountain of knowledge here. Any questions, just ask. The only stupid one is the one you don't ask.

Thanks to Doc and Richard for their welcome.

Richard, you're absolutely right about the addiction. My Tiger was joined yesterday by a very cute (can you say this about a tank?) HL Panzer 4 F2. Both are 27mHz but seem to run very well, and the limiting factor for the moment is the co-ordination of the owner! I've had the tops off both, and done some careful additional lubrication on the gears and shafts, plus I intend to chemically blacken the tracks on the Tiger which are metal. Helps a lot to have poked about inside to begin to understand some of the discussions on here.

John.

Many thanks for the welcome. I'll be pleased to put up some pics when I've achieved something more than simply opening HL's rather large boxes!

John.
