Getting hold of a small individual (10ml) model air bottles of Vallejo Dunkelgrau and Dunkelgelb has proved surprisingly frustrating...well, on Amazon and Ebay, anyway. Most vendors seem to want to flog them as constituent parts of 'Panzer colours' (sic) collections. Indeed, I had one such such set previously, but I've exhausted the two bottles I need most So, I decided to try out the Tamiya equivalents, and found this blog site- replete with nifty comparison charts- to be particularly useful :

Thanks Jamie for the productive link. Part of the reason for the quickie thread, however, was to draw attention to the comparison charts.. for those who want to go from Vallejo to Tamiya, or vice versa..or even to Humbrol

Cheers for that!! ..but at 225 pages, that pdf is the 'War and Peace' equivalent of paint charts. Does seem definitive, though.. Some of the internal links are a tad glitchy..and the 'download pdf' option only works from the main page..without the 'apache error' popping up. The huge list of paint providers from Testors (never heard of them) through to Humbrol, Vallejo and Tamiya can't be configured in the offline pdf (unsurprisingly), but can online..and that's very useful The 'paypal donate' option is sometimes off putting...but then again, that's quite a piece of work to go unrewarded

I used to use Testor paint back in the days when I collected 54mm Napoleonics.

Rctanks.de has Vallejo colors available. That's where I buy my dunkelgelb for my Panzer projects. They have a great selection.

Ja, Ich weiss..! and thanks, 73, for the input. I'm a regular customer of rctank, but postage is something of a headache. On a big buy...a tasty Taigen Panther, say, (one I need to complete my collection..or the bits to build one)..adding a few smaller items makes sense
as it won't bump the carriage costs up higher. For small items though, say..a couple of paint bottles..it's not worth it. I often buy though Ebay and Amazon because, with a bit of careful planning, it's possible to get free delivery.
Sadly, many smaller vendors (including model shops) treat the Highlands (where I live) as an 'offshore' area, like the Hebrides...or even undiscovered land, and charge a whopping premium or 'surcharge' for it...almost as if these things are being delivered by Wells Fargo stage coaches peppered
with arrows from truculent and aggrieved natives. Although, it's more likely to be empty bottles of 'Buckfast'...or tins of 'irn bru'... Some vendors will not vend to the Highlands at all
Again, the thread was partly about paint equivalents. I'm just about to try Tamiya paints for the first time. Vallejo are ok, but their dunkelgelb primer is useless.. I found. I now use a rattle can from Humbrol.

I have 100s and 100s of Vallejo & AK & TAMIYA paints and I just prefer TAMIYA every time.
