Looking to Upgrade Heng Long Roadwheels

Hi All,

Looking for some assistance in going about how to upgrade the Heng Long road wheels on their Jagdpanther to those with the correct contours and what else will be necessary to mount them. Have been looking at the Taigen metal wheels which look good, but can they be mounted one for one or will it necessitate new mounting arms? and would I have to change the torsion bars?

And can anyone comment on whether Tamiya Jagdpanther upper hull fit a Heng Long lower hull?

Many thanks chaps for any comments, observations or recommendations.

As the Panther lower is the same, I have put steel wheels on a Panther.
Using the Taigen wheels normally requires changing to the metal arms.
HL wheels screw through the hub onto the arms, Taigen metal wheels have a small stub of axle that is secured into the arm with a grub screw.
I believe Mato Panther wheels will go over H/L arms and are secured with one of those "guaranteed -to-strip-or-break" self tapping screws.

Forgot to mention, HL dont use torsion bars, they use a captive spring in behind the arm.
I always clock my lead and last spring, or depending on the over all weight of the machine, clock them all.
My Zu fuss needed H/D springs and clocked as well !!
The middle wheels I leave soft, again dependent on the over all weight.

Herman,

Many thanks for the information. I'll look into those Mato wheels as an alternative as well. But, without having taken one of these HLs apart, it's a bit hard imagining that a grub screw tightened against the attaching arm would allow the road wheel to turn. But if the attaching arm of the HL Panther/Jagdpanther would allow for a Tamiya Panther road wheel to attach, for example, that would be an alternate solution. Thanks for the help.
