Hi,

I've just got my Tamiya KT, and im trying to get the gun to fire with my Futaba 6ex. Does anyone know how to do this?

Also, is there anyway to get the main gun and MG to fire off of the 2-way switches along the top of the transmitter?

hi i had this radio and had to swap it my local model shop man who dose the repairs for the hobby company who imports tamiya in  to the uk has had to repair a lot of dmd's because they dont like push button trims he said to me dmds only like manuel trims

I've read they don't like the digital ones either. I've seen two solutions in my hunt on the interweb, one using the dual rates to fire, and the other modding button into the case for those functions.

I'm going to try the dual rates one first, failing that i guess i'll be buying new buttons! lol.

yes this is all true for Tamiya you require analog trims as in manual digital radios tend not to work hence why Futaba have reintroduced analog radios, once you have this sorted all you do is push the right trim forward fully the quickly push the right stick forward this will fire the main gun to fire the MG you do the opposite

If it works, then that would be the best option I think, especially for battling and split-second shots.

The VBT 2.0 sounds interesting as well.

Ril forgive me is your futaba on 40 megs, if so then there,s no problem to add
extra switches for firing etc, as have no fewer than five extra , push buttons and toggles, touch wood have not had a problem if you need help  just shout and if i can help,  i will if course....

Mines a 2.4Ghz Fleshy. The one thing I would like to do is run the lights off one of the 2 extra channel switches if possible?
I'd love to be able to flick them on and off.

I used the Dual rates High/Normal switch to switch between the elevation and firing, works quite well. I may put a button in at some point later.

I appear to have one more radio related problem. When I switch off the tank before the Tx the tank goes mental and shoots off in full reverse.

Could this be to do with the failsafe system built into the 6ex?

Hi,

I had a lot of trouble getting my Tamiya Sherman to work with my HiTec 7ch digital radio. Eventually I succeeded with everything but the lighting. However the trim settings are wierd, and very critical. That particular model memory is useless for anything except Tamiya tanks now.
I got the lighting to work by using one of the non-prop channels with a servo and microswitch, taking the power direct from the battery.

I would guess that your high speed reversing is probably caused by the failsafe thinking it is connected to a carburettor on an i.c. engine. I've never had one of these radios so I can't tell you how to alter this, sorry.
