Someone's confirmed this particular one was made in 1947 that's 70 years old next year

Yup me too!! Seen one or two old train sets on flogit and they go for pretty good prices at auction.

don't over wind the spring they do snap as they get older did you put a drop of thin oil in the workings
here's my old HORNBY Train it's not a good photo but it's to let you know that I have some HORNBY so has my wife
I gave it to my son a long time ago

Hi If your going to put it on Ebay put a reserve of say £150 on it its in good condition and all there . Take some good photos of each carriage and the train also the track , Don't clean it you will wipe off money just a light oil of the running gear.People who collect these want them original
