UK tank prices

I have been eyeing a few tanks with a view to buying - trouble is the currency exchange rates here in the UK are pants since the former PM decided to shoot himself in the foot.
Anyway, leave politics out of this.

What you have to ask yourself is
Am I worth it ?

A mid production Tiger with (now available with barrel recoil fitted as standard from Taigen) beckons....... :D

It's still a bargain buying from Germany.

I avoid China etc due to inflated delivery and customs costs.

Our Northern brethren have the strongest currency on the planet and when it droops a pence, we lose our houses :/

Trust me "GBP earners"...........you really have sweet F. A. to worry about ;)

I will say though, that in my opinion its not the GBP that is at the root of the cost of new tanks, but other things.
I have it on excellent authority that an item posted to Scotland, worth $65 AUD (or a shade over 30 quid) cost another 28 QUID to get hold of upon receipt !! :wtf: for what ??.............it was marked as a gift.
When I visited London, I went to get a pizza from a chain store restaurant ..............I would want a lapdance from Monica Belluci thrown in for the cost(converted to $AUD) for that damn pizza. :eh:

From an outsiders perspective there must be a load of taxes & duties & price gouging & other B.S. that drives the retail costs up over there, because its NOT the bloody exchange rate ;)

VAT is 20% if you get stung, the kicker is the handling charge which is £7-15 depending on the courier. I'm sorry but you're wrong on the exchange rate, the £ has fallen hugely against the dollar and euro the two currencies which make a big difference. U.K. Sellers have seemed to have taken a hit and prices haven't gone up. But when buying from abroad direct it does hit you very hard. For example I paid about £600 all in for my is-2, now I'd be looking at £750 plus.

For much of last year, and well into this one, the £1 sterling would get you around 1.4 Euros. Now it's around 1.17...and was heading for parity a week ago. Having just bought a few things from Asiatam and rctank.de, I've noticed a significant increase in cost, and so the addiction is going to stretch finances even more..and for those who still have partners (not I now..only a dog)..it's going to stretch patience too :haha: Remember to hide that new acquisition
in some secret spot unknown to the other half (or 3/4, if she's a bossy one!)
As noted, shopping from UK sources (and we know some great ones) is fine until they, in turn, get hit by the import costs.... :'( Then it might be a case of cold turkey, boys.. :O ..... well,on the days after Christmas dinner that is :haha:

On the bright side, Roy, it's a good time for all your favorite Yanks to get a good deal on an IBU or somethin'. :haha:

And I imagine that's good for our beloved Ursine members. 8)

Herman - its interesting about EU prices. Technically if EU sellers trade outside the EU, they don't have to charge the 20% sales tax. I've bought slot cars from the UK and motorbike gear from the UK and Germany, without the VAT. I think most retailers gouge the extra money from the overseas buyers, but the smart ones attract extra business and still make their domestic profit. Either that or its too much trouble for them to show the tax man the sale went outside the EU.

When I am on another US biased Forum and there is a discussion about buying from EU Dealers I try to make it a practice to remind US resident buyers to always remind the dealer that they are from the US and not liable to pay VAT,
Most EU dealers are pretty good about this but some do need REMINDING !!!
