What charger and battery?

Hi,

I have just bought a Heng Long tiger tank, after several hours of trying to get it to work i finally got it to work, stupid springs in controller where aparently not long enough?

Anyway after 5 mins of working the tank has now stopped working..., its two lights on the front work and light up (flash),the tank starts up (sound effect) when i press the start key button on the controller, but nothing on the tank moves, not the gun or caterpiller tracks, i have wondered if the battery has run down after 5 mins so i'm going to charge it again (it's a 1700mAh 7.2v NI-CD battery), i charged it last night for 4 hours and the tank worked fine for 5 mins today lol.

So, just incase i've decided to buy a 5000mAh Ni-MH battery and smart charger, can someone tell me a good battery and charger make/model number to buy as there's that many and this is the first RC tank i've had for over 30 years lol, it used to be a case of wack some AA batteries in and you're good to go! haha.

Just a comment on your existing battery. Check the output of the charger. It is probably 150ma or thereabouts. That means a full charge would take 11 hours. Just divide 1700 by the output figure. Thus, I guess you only gave the battery about 30% charge.

The charger says:

Output: 7.2v - 500mA

any links to a good 5000mAh battery and charger? I'm guessing the website has sponsors? So if there are any online shops who can sort me out with a good quality smart charger and 5000mAh battery set that would be good

This firm was recommended to me by another forum member. http://www.componentshop.co.uk/batterie ... ks/72v-84v

If you need any help, just contact them. I have found them very helpful. They will even make up battery packs to order. They also do smart chargers.

Hi Danny, just to add to Richards very good and useful advise, do remember to tell them that you need a "TAMIYA" Connector, (The TAMIYA connector is the standard fit on all our main Tank battery's in this hobby). If in the future you obtain battery's with different connectors this company can provide a fix.
Shaun.

No guarantee, but when I wanted an item that was out of stock, they made one up for me - no fancy printing on it but it worked!
